NEW MEDIA New media is media that is native to computers and digital networks such as the internet. Examples New media includes things like websites, digital communities, social media, mobile apps, virtual and immersive environments. The Difference New media differs from old media such as newspapers and television in that it calls for everyone to participate. This is very different from the old model whereby information is broadcast in one direction from media to audiences. Why new? New media emerged with the commercialization of the internet in the 1990s. This is quite a long time ago. However, new media represents a massive change to the way that information, communication, entertainment and commerce is organized and produced.
