Definitions of NEWS 

1: newly received or noteworthy information, especially about recent events.
2: News is information about current events. ... Common topics for news reports include war, government, politics, education, health, the environment, economy, business, fashion, and entertainment, as well as athletic events, quirky or unusual events.
3:News is information that wasn't known before or current events broadcast over the radio, television, online or in print media.


An example of news is a couple announcing their engagement at a family gathering.
